About the Research Competition

Inspired by the renowned Three Minute Thesis (3MT®) competition developed by the University of Queensland, this competition tests your concise and compelling communication. Competitors have just three minutes to captivate a panel of judges with their research projects using a single, static PowerPoint slide.

To ensure a level playing field, the following rules apply:

  • No animations, transitions, or moving elements on the slide.

  • No additional electronic aids like audio or video.

  • No props or physical demonstrations.

  • Presentations must be spoken word, limited to three minutes sharp. Exceeding this time may result in disqualification.

This competition has two stages: the elimination stage and the finals. The finals will be held at the CDU IT CodeFair 2024 on Monday 4th of November 2024, DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel, Esplanade Darwin.
