DEVELOPMENT CHALLENGE
The Biosecurity Game Development Competition invites Northern Territory secondary school students in Years 7 to 9 to combine their creativity, passion for gaming, and technical abilities to develop educational computer games that raise awareness about biosecurity in Australia.

The Challenge
Design and create a computer game that shows the importance of biosecurity measures in protecting Northern Territory communities, wildlife, and plants from diseases and invasive species. Your game should help players learn about managing biosecurity risks, especially in Northern Australia.
Who Can Join?
Secondary school students in Years 7 to 9 from any Northern Territory school can participate. You can
work individually or in a group of up to 4 members with comprising students from the same school. A school is welcome to submit multiple entries.
What Biosecurity Topics Can You Explore?

Plant health
Highlight the importance of protecting NT
plants and crops from pests and diseases.

Wildlife Protection
Help protect NT’s unique animals by
preventing diseases and invasive species.

Community Safety
Teach players how proper hygiene and quarantine practices keep NT communities safe.

Quarantine Practices
Demonstrate real-life quarantine measures used in the NT to prevent the spread of harmful organisms.

This is a challenge for school students in Years 7 to 9 only.
Teachers can run this challenge with students in classroom.
Parents are welcome to assist their children in completing the challenge at home.
Development Environment
Students can use any game development environment or software,
such as Scratch, GDevelop, Unity, or others.
How to Enter
STEP 1
Complete registration and upload your submission at this link
before the Challenge closing date.
The submission shall comprise
a single YouTube link containing a maximum of 10 minutes of game walkthrough +
link to project files (strongly recommended but optional at submission).
STEP 2
The YouTube video content shall include a narrative of
how the game addresses our judging criteria.
